Sports are becoming the prime profession for many

youth in the present day scenario. The awareness on being involved in

sports is on its ever increasing note. Sporting activities help people

to be fit. The body muscles are given proper care by doing exercises.

Constant exposure to such events may lead to injuries. The injuries may

be acute or chronic depending on their nature. So everyone must be

careful to avoid injuries. Proper concentration while involved in the

sports will avoid from being injured. So the prevention tips must be

followed to have the optimal sporting experience.

The more you

are in contact with sports, the more likely to be injured. So do not

over strain yourself in any situation. Injuries can be prevented if you

are mentally and physically prepared to face the assault. Do not

consider your self to be weak while involved in sports. Attitude

matters a lot to prevent injuries. Most injuries occur to the ligament

(connecting bones together), tendons (connect muscles to bones) and

muscles. Only heavy accidents in the field may result in broken bones.

A recent study reveals that only 5% of the injuries result in broken

bones. Rather in children, bones are prone to injuries as they will be

seen in the bones development stage. So they should involve in a

sporting activity under the guidance of a trainer.

The common

injuries are sprains, strains which are caused due to the abnormal

stress given to the muscles. Some of the injury prevention tips are:

• Use the right gear and have right shoes which will fit you.

• Try to have a flat foot to the ground

• Follow the rules as they are meant to be followed.

• Have a proper warm up session. Do not be heavy on the warm up sessions.

• Get skills training.

• Use proper body dynamics and mechanics to set yourself in the flow of the game.

• Listen to the body reactions and stop playing the sport when you encounter any pain.

• Take appropriate rest during the warm up sessions and games.

• Cool yourself after every game to prevent heat illness.

• Have a proper warm up after the sporting event winds up.

• Do not work out with empty stomach or after having heavy meals.

• Do cross training to overcome most of the difficulties.

When

you end up with an injury the immediate measure that has to be taken is

RICE method (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation). Consult your trainer

and physio to know about the correct methodology on working out. Do not

strain much on the injured part. If you feel the pain while at rest,

consult a doctor. If you do not have any pain, you start doing the

exercises in a slower rate. The recovery time depends on the individual

and the nature of injuries.

So it is always better to go by the saying \\\"Prevention is better than cure!\\\"
