Model 387 has been one of the most sought after trucks since its introduction into the market way back in 1999. The 387 has since then become the basis of many truck designs, especially when it comes to technology, performance, serviceability, maneuverability and fuel efficiency. This model has been tested and proven to give excellent performance on the highway, plus giving drivers incomparable comfort and safety in order to avoid fatigue while on the road.
Peterbilt 387 has also been known for its magnificent sleepers that come in different roof options like a daycab, mid roof, and one with a raised roof. Different roof types and designs depend on the preference of the owner. Originally, this truck was created to be used as a coal hauler. But then, in the mid 1960s, Peterbilt engineers started creating customized trucks and made sleepers available through its partnership with Mercury Sleepers. Mercury Sleepers made 40 inch and 60 inch sleepers and painted it to go with the factory paint. 1978 came and Peterbilt engineers started to create a bigger sleeper with the size of 63 inch and introduced the 359 127, calling it the Big Mamoo.
In 1986, the first raised high roof sleeper came to life with the 359, which was then extended with the 379 models. Unibilt sleepers then came, introducing the air ride cab suspension, along with a sleeper having a large cab with an opening to the sleeper in 1994. Many changes and enhancements were done with the trucks from 2007 until now. Since then, Peterbilt trucks have come down the road with different styles and designs of the driver\'s choice. Roof sizes vary according to the preference for sleeper size.

This model has distinctive features, with a one piece roof connected to the cab frame for a waterproof seal. The rear wall utilizes an aluminum sheet attached to the frame which makes it easier for owners to make changes like installing more lights, changing door handles and putting up windows.
